Time Markers

Time Markers & Change

I will reiterate some of the discussion from the Time Marker Blog Discussion .

What is a Time Marker? A time marker can mean many things but in the context of change time markers are somewhat indicators of evolution or devolution.  A Marker indicates an intense moment in time where transformation becomes possible. Transformation depends on many factors. A particular time on a continuum of events in one’s life that supersedes lesser occurrences.

Apart from a myriad of references on the meaning of Time Markers the following cross-reference best fit into the process of change in the context of the individual: Time markers mark the progression of time indicates movement whether one is aware or not of this invisible movement. How we all experience and perceive time is very different, because we all experience and understand life particular to our individual realities. There are as many realities as there are humans and various living beings on this Earth. All these realities exist moment by moment. A lot of people are not even aware of time as it passes.

Understanding time may not be easy but investigating how it occurs within the process of change is possible.

Notebook Exercise

This exercise involves revisiting the previous exercise: Life category cycles. By now you should have attempted to create a chart of your life cycle changes. For example:

Category: Time Cycle: Time Marker:

Career: 3-year position cycle change Moved away from home. New Country, 2004

position - reception 2001 Medical Diagnosed with Type II diabetes, 2002

position - administrative 2004

position - business admin 2008 Parent passed away, moved back to Home Country, 2007

Study:

college business diploma 2004

Time Markers are significant events or changes. For now list as many changes. Some may not be as significant as other events. Do not worry, just list as many changes as you feel significant. After reviewing your entries you may want to place the lesser events in brackets.

I suggest acquiring a new notebook for this next step in the Time Marker exercise. In a new notebook create a line with a start date and along the line mark various points with dates and the event descriptions. You are literally creating a Time Marker timeline. Use your note from the life cycle changes. The following is an example:

2002____________________2004__________________________2007______________

Medical Diagnosis Moved (new country) Parent passed and moved back home

In your new notebook using the subsequent timeline marker as shown above create footnotes (use another page) to outline notes pertaining to the event description. Do not discard your other notebooks or notes. Save your other notebook(s) for continued lessons and exercises on habit changes and for the purpose of your integration of your own analysis and understanding of your Time Markers. These notebook exercises helps to chart your personal timeline(s).

You can cross reference the Life Cycle flow to the the Time Markers. We will continue on with these notebook exercises.

So, in the meantime keep your focus and always take time to reflect and think positively.
